to reduce power to pump. I remember reading where somebody figured out how to change parts in the pump itself to restrict the pressure. Had I not already done the valve I would have went with changing pump parts.
You should plan to replace the hoses to the front latch in the near future since they will fail regardless of pressure mod. No such thing as safe in this case.
The front latch hoses are the only ones I have had to replace. I don't see any evidence of needing to replace the other ones yet, and I hope the pressure reduction will keep it that way.
Its been a while since Johan's girl got to chime in about the green shower. (NSFW)
While I truly sympathize with what she had to deal with to drive that car home, the audio still makes me chuckle all these years later. She's a real trooper....
I believe they got rid of the car not long afterwards....
I installed the LSI relief kit a while back on my car with the worst hoses, relatively quick installation. Judging by the reported failures of the hoses (apparently failure of crimp clamping owing to degradation of the sheathing, small relative motions of tube/fittings likely contributing), it is not clear how much this will help, but it seems like it couldn't hurt. It also has no/negligible affect on the roof lifting and could be helpful for the pump and other components.
Apparently, there was a Jaguar kit to 'fix' the hose problem long ago, but it failed to actually fix the problem, likely doomed by the presence of degrading sheathing. There's nothing particularly solid to hold on to.
All that said, I'll probably do this on the car with the 'good' hoses too and replace both sets of hoses in the near future when I have sufficient time.
I did the resistor mod some years ago (probably because I was an Electronics tech.!) And everything has been fine.
If you haven't replaced the latch hoses, it just seems fine. The pressure has very little to do with the cause of failure. It is more about heat cycles and age.
This fix should be as automatic as the 4.0 tensioners. The failure may not be as costly but is still a major PITA.
Otherwise it is only a matter of time before you join the ranks of the showered.
I bought this years ago from LSI with the intent of installing it, but never did so before I traded the car for an Audi S4 Avant. Don't ask, I missed the XKR the moment I drove the S4 off the lot .
Anyhow, I have an unopened (still in the sealed bag) LSI HA61648 jaguar kit. The green fluid blues still occur, here's the hardware version of the fix.
If interested, hit me at my email don@kiwisurfer.co.nz. In SF Bay Area...... I know someone wants one... These are as rare as chicken teeth.
Cheers
