Sorry to be double-checking, but you are saying that in 2005 there were only 669 XKR's Coupes built World-Wide and I assume that includes the 2006 XKR's sold in the USA....Is that right? My 2005 XKR Coupe was built in February of 2004 but is a 2005 Model.....Does my XKR Coupe count as one of the 669 listed on the Chart? or is it counted on the 2004 list?
It's amazing to me that through all those years they only made 9,746 XKR Coupe's for the entire World over 9 years....8 actually...with 1997 having only 11 Cars made....I can't imagine how it could not be considered a Classic Car already!

Billy,
I did that back in 2012. The figures came from JDHT (Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust) who hold all the factory records. They are the numbers produced by Calendar Year.
Some breakdowns of the production figures have appeared with minor differences in a number of publications. The reason for this is JDHT originally didn't get all the factory records from Jaguar and did this final revision. Also some of the published production figures show the numbers by Model Year.
The final car rolled off the production line on 27th May 2005 so there was only five months production that year. Demand from new buyers was low because the replacement XK had already been announced.
However, there are vehicles in the US with 2006 registration. The reason for this is the US registration date is the import date and not the build date. Your 2005 XKR could therefore have been built in 2004 or 2005. Only the VIN or the factory build sheet will tell for certain. However I expect it will have been 2005 as was my Final Series XK8 4.2-S Coupe
The XK8/XKR certainly has everything necessary to be a classic with one exception. There are still too many around. Time will take care of this!
