Hi all,
Last time I posted was in regard to my project XK8, which can be found here. The fuel pump had failed after sitting for 2 years, replaced it, and she runs as good as new. Starting to slowly get the car back into the swing of things. Anyone have a recommendation for a custom exhaust? I'm a big fan of a loud growling car. I've so far discovered that the sound achieved in
would be something I'd be interested in doing. They replaced the large center muffler with an H pipe (I prefer over X pipe). and also replaced the two small mufflers with straight through over-axle pipes (could possibly be the $300 Adamesh ones), all while just leaving the back two mufflers on. Anyone have something similar on their car, or knows about exhausts and would recommend a brand to purchase from?
Cheers!
The setup you described should be the best way to do it. I made the "mistake" of removing the back boxes with the Adamesh pipes and the over axel box deletes. It's very nice but it does drone at low rpm and around 3000rpm. If you got an X pipe or H pipe and the over axel box delete but kept the back boxes you should be fine. I haven't seen anyone selling the X/H pipe though not in the UK and not as a single part just as a complete exhaust system though. Would be nice if Adamesh released one.
The biggest restriction in the exhaust is the over axle portion as it is crushed to 2" in diameter.
Replacing the mid-mufflers & over axle pipes with aftermarket would get you better sound, actual power gains, weight loss and reduce temps.
