Pulled 100 today, been a while since I've done that...
smooth as silk and I didnt even realize I was going that fast. This time of year we have many snowbirds visiting and they are very good drivers but... that means speed limit or less out on open country roads where its 65mph. Had 3 in a row and decided to just pass them all at the same time. I didnt realize till I passed the third one (flying by more like) that I was at 100, LOL.
I am pleased that it ran up to 100 that smooth but.... so smooth I kinda wasnt paying attention to how fast I was going (figured 85 at best).
Again, this is a fun fun car but I have a question.
How fast (MPH) have you driven yours ?
Sorry guys if I sound like a kid with a new toy but........ I kinda am, LOL.

Much like you I was at 122.6 (GPS Max Speed) right in your neck of the woods, doing the same thing, passing some *******.
I-10 between Phoenix and Eloy is two lanes in each direction and gets clogged by semi-trucks "racing" to pass each other with a speed differential of about 0.5 MPH and both of them going around 65 in a 75 zone. Once this clears you see even more semis ahead ready to do the same thing. Hit the gas to get by all of them and sure enough that speedo is in territory you've never seen before and you don't really know it because the dang thing is still accelerating! Take your foot off the gas and it sure takes a long time to coast back into legal territory. I understand in AZ it is an instant go to jail and lose your license offense too.
Reverend Sam has a post with a photo of his GPS around 146MPH on a very nice day in North Carolina.
BTW, it was amazing to see just how small those trucks got in the rear view mirror!

The trucks around here do it constantly up and down I-35, and we too have "hwy patrolmen" out shooting radar, taxing people for exceeding some arbitrary speed limit. Other countries must laugh at us. Take Germany for example; a great transportation system, first class, and world-renowned. Angela Merkel, in response to those who would lower or establish speed limits, says "we are a car-driving nation". When I've been there, I've seen a country united in their transportation usage. It's wonderful. We could do that here. We aren't stupid and untrainable, like some law enforcement around here have intimated-they just get jobs out of the deal, that's all. And a few weeks ago, two semi trucks head-on'd each other. Both were running (and probably texting) in the left lane, veered into the median, and BAM! Both perished. If they had been mandated into the right lane only, this would not have happened.
Sorry to go on a rant, but these highways are for moving commerce swiftly and efficiently, and our DOT is failing at facilitating this.

The problem with most North American drivers is that driving is not treated as a serious affair. Texting, phoning, fiddling with the sound system, gps, cruise control, fighting with the brats, opening a beer ... anything other than actually *driving*.

Already some time ago, drove about 170mph in my car on the German autobahn. I was using 4% larger tires, so this was actual mph as my speedo is also 4% off (this was proven on a dyno). Was surprised how much different 170mph feels compared to 150mph, just 20mph was almost a world of difference. My suspension was already pretty old at that time, so that didn’t help in giving a good confident feeling. Will probably take of the speed limiter soon, and go for another run ;-)
Oh and I wasn't browsing the forum at the time with this keyboard holder, honeslty:

Well, you're in Eloy, so it's probably shorter and faster to take Tom Mix down to Tucson.
There's a lot of truck "racing" on I-40, also. The really irritating thing is when cars also do it. Drivers unconsciously tend to go approximately the same speed as the vehicle they are next to. So, as a group of cars come up to pass a truck, the lead car will slow down to pass. Then, as you try to get past the idiot, he will speed up to nearly match your speed.

2003 XKR: 135 to 140mph indicated on I-44 in Oklahoma running aside a 2009 Corvette. I got my *** handed to me 'cause he just took off after that, but he was surprised I kept up as long as I did. We got off at the same exit in Chandler - he saw me pull into a gas station. He looped back around to talk. He said he had no idea a 6 cylinder Jag could run like that.... I just smiled and said I'm pretty proud of her !
2001 XJR: 132mph indicated on MO hwy 71 north of Joplin at about 2am. I chickened out for fear of seeing "beady eyes of doom" (Deer)
1991 Suzuki GSXR 1100: 165-170mph indicated on KC's Downtown Airport runway's back access road... At about 145mph I fully lifted throttle as I backed off and it felt like I had hit the brakes - freaked me out!
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda: 140mph indicated going east on I-70 from KC - 440 six-barrel, 4 speed, 3:54 dana rear end. She felt WAAAAY too light up front! Egads! Young and fearless... The one car I wish I still had though.

He subsequently moved up to one of those specially built '68 Hemi Cuda's and had some National Records with that one as well.
I had a 340 Duster, and I never raced it (on the strip), but that was one sweet running engine. My college roommate had a Camaro with a 350, and he thought that his car would be faster because of the 10 more CI displacement. I took him for a ride in my Duster and he was shocked. He said, "My car could not do that, EVER!" Of course, he did not have one of the high performance 350's, just the regular 350 4bbl.
Another college roommate had a Grand Prix, with the same 389 that they put in the GTO, but, of course it was a much bigger and heavier car. We actually had a race one time and I gave him a head start. When we got back home he said, "My speedometer was buried at 120 and you came flying by me, how fast were you going?" I said, "I don't know, when I was passing you on that two lane road, I never looked down at the speedometer."
I think that those of us who lived through those days are lucky, because I suspect that we all know some who did not.
Oops, an edit. Now as I am remembering that period of time, I recall that Clyde Robillard had a car in between the '63 Belvedere and the '68 Hemi Cuda, and it was the 1964 Belvedere with the 426 Hemi, which the NHRA did not allow to run in the Stock Class, even though it was a Stock car. It ran in the SS/BA (Super Stock B, Automatic) class, it was all Black and all BAD, and yes, he held National Records and won many events in that car as well. (no, I am not related to Clyde Robillard, just a Mopar fan)

XK8 about 105 to stretch her legs coming back from Vegas two weeks ago.
S Type about 125 on the 101 in PHX, probably a tad lucky with that.
GSXR 750 155 in sunny France, and a 2hr run back from Le Mans with 2 other bikes where we didn't see the low side of 120 for about 2hrs.
Stupidest was 100mph down Leslie high st in my 3.8 MKll many moons ago in my youth.
Here's the very street.

You ain't kidding about the snowbirds! They'll stop at the intersection, stare you down and pull out in front of you with no time to stop or swerve. Kind of reminds me of the kamikaze squirrel. You know, the one who darts back and forth in the road until you run it over.
