The purpose of the rear seat

The purpose of the rear seat
Tonight when I got home I was greeted by our three dogs. Sammy proceeded to demonstrate the purpose of the otherwise useless rear seat: it's for dogs! Sammy claimed the rear seat and refused to get out until I took him for a drive.
Teddy took the front seat despite it being occupied by my backpack.
Sammy grinning from the back seat. Teddy waiting to GO!
Sammy likes the leather.

I asked Sammy and he said (translated from Dog) that was just the excuse management used to build a doggy seat.

Actually, I was driving a Corvette for 14 years without any rear seat and kind of enjoyed it. So when I started looking for a more "practical" replacement SWMBO insisted no more 2-seaters so I was looking at things like BMW 3-series and Infiniti G37. I always at least tried out the rear seats in those vehicles to see if they can really accommodate anyone in the rear.
So, of course, the first time I happened upon an XK8, I also tried out the rear seat. I don't know how I did it but I was somehow able to squeeze in. Definitely not comfortable but it can be done.
