A question about coils
Just been through a session of occassional P0353 so picked up a used one to replace #3 and when I took it out, found that I have a different fitting on the coil, ie: a wide one instead of narrow plus a different code, soooooo.....
I put #3 in #2 and #2 in #3 and I clean the connectors with contact cleaner ala Radio Shack just for luck. BTW, plugs are a year old and no oil was around them.
Sooooo...
The car runs like a top, no code, no misses, at least not yet.
Is it reasonable that the whole code issue was simply the connectors? Is that common? I wouldn't think that a bad coil would heal itself.
Any thoughts?

Had a similar issue, went to the dealership and they told me that I had a bad coil. Asked if they had Ches the spark plug, he said no but they would. He came back later and said the plug was fine and the coil was bad. When he told my wife that she should change all the coils due to one being bad and it would not be long before the rest failed, the red flag went up. I asked them to pleasssse put the plug in and coil and I would do the repairs my self. I still have not replaced the coil, and that was 10,000 miles ago and no more codes. I have had 8 different codes since then for other issues, i do the plug and play Clean the contacts and erase the codes. So far so good the codes have not reoccurred. Jim
