Question about disconnecting battery
I'm launching a deep cleaning campaign on my new 2004 XK8. I plan to remove the seats and I've read that it is prudent to disconnect the battery so the airbags don't inadvertently deploy. Will that do anything to the stock radio? Will I need to enter a security code upon repowering? I don't have the code ... it was never entered in the Passport to Service book. If I need it, is it stamped, or on a sticker on the radio chassis?

The vast majority of US cars do not need the radio code. If you happen to have one of the very few that does, it can be obtained from a Jag dealer with a VIN number and proof of ownership.
You will need to reset the windows when you reconnect the battery. Instructions are in the owners manual and also on the forum in dozens of posts.

Only a very small number of US members report having coded radios fitted. It came as a surprise to me that any do as this was specifically a UK market measure supposed to deter thefts.
You'll need to do a little more than just the window travel limits after a battery disconnect or 'hard reset' on a 2004MY. Full details in this thread:

Nothing difficult.

I just had the seats out of my 04 XK8 today to clean the carpet and fix both headrest drive cables.
After reconnecting the battery I only had to run the windows down/up and hold the button a few seconds till you hear the click.
Then had to run the top up/down so the rear windows would adjust same way.
Radio still works!
