Default Question about fog lights

Hi all,
I have a 97 XK8, and someone did me the favor(before I got it) of breaking both lenses on my fog lights. Do I have to buycomplete new assemblies or can I get just the bulbs and lenses? Where's a good supplier?
Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

I am afraid it is complete units, even though they can be seperated, it is quite rare in the UK to get these light units out whole anyway, as the screws weld themselves into the brass ferrules and you end up breaking them.

You could try some Jag bone yards you never know your luck, just remember they changed in 2001 to the flush fitting type rather than sunk in.

I just changed out my left light on my 1999 XK8. It was a very difficult job. I ended taking the washer resivoir out so I could get to the light. After I got done I wondered if it wouldnt be easier to remove the bumper cover and the light with it. Some one must have an easier way

Icallher, look in our vendor directory up top of this page, and find Specialized Parts Planet, they're out of california and have a huge jaguar salvage operation. Bet you can find a pair for a fraction of new. I won't venture a guess, but their prices I've seen so far are very good.

The easiest way is to remove the front bumper, but even this has it's hazards.

Personally the only way to change the fog lights unless I fitted them in the first place (I always copper grease the bolts) is to remove the front bumper

I bought a replacement used foglight for about $100 each. Be sure to ask if the lens is clear and not pitted with stone chips.

Much easier to remove front bumper in terms of time and access.

Second on using a copper grease or dielectric to coat dissimilar metal fasteners.

Searched for Specialized Parts Planet, came back with no results found. Googled it and found it. http://www.specializedpartsplanet.com

sorry about that, they're not listed in the main directory (they were at one time...) anyway, another link in case you need it is here. G'luck w/ the parts.

I have just rebuilt the entire front end on my XKR. Without a doubt the only way to remove or repair these fog lights is to remove the front bumper. As XKRacer says there are hazards involved, mainly finding that the captive bolts are difficult to access and in my case rusted solid. I had to hack them out of the damaged bumper and when reinstalling them on my new bumper, replace them with standard small nuts and bolts. The pumper I removed them from was damaged and was being replaced, if I was having to replace these fogs on a good bumper and the bolts where rusted I would be tempted to live without my fog lights the risk of damaging the bumper is too high. These units are £100 each here in the UK.
Regards
Dave
XKR and XJ40 for my sins.
