Question about Pollen Filter Housing

Question about Pollen Filter Housing
Hey all,
Recently, I had noticed a lot of people were sneezing this time of year in part to autumn's strong winds turning up the old summer's allergens. I finally figured it was time to change my XK8's pollen filter, something of which I had never done before! But upon opening up the cowling below the windshield, to my dismay there was just a large empty space and no place for the pollen filter to go! Online, I found there should be a part there for the XK8/XKR known as the "pollen filter housing" part #MJD6865AA or the "pollen filter kit" part #JLM20783. I've read on the forums already that some people "install" this part, particularly in the british markets, but in North America, I couldn't find anything on this.
My question is, why is this part missing from the car? Aren't these standard on pretty much all Jaguars? My S-Type has one! Further, are the housing parts still available and if so, from where?
Thanks in advance to any posters who can answer my questions

Why do you want it? Major PITA!
DaytonC,
I suppose you must have a coup. The majority of X100s sold in the USA were convertibles, so why would they need a cabin pollen filter. If people did have it, they would have removed it, as it's a major PITA to service and not really effective, especially with the convertible top down! LOL
As you found out, the usual SnGBarret and TerryJag sources show the part is discontinued. For unusual requests I go to Dave CR in the UK. He's able to source unusual requests but you'll need to contact him directly. He can be really slow on communication, but he's reliable and totally trustworthy. Thank you both for your answers, DavidYau and GGG. I presumed when I saw the "hole" for the filter housing, along with a place for the screws to hold it in, that the filter was indeed a standard item. But I see, optional!
I have taken up your advice DavidYau, and contacted Dave. I actually e-mailed ALL the major Jaguar part suppliers in the world for this part, made a listing on these forums for it, and now anxiously await to see if it's in stock anywhere! Wish me luck guys!

Hope you keep the car dry
A lot of owners removed these as the filter element is in a bad location and gets wet, mouldy and smelly. Then swapping it out is a major PITA.
Other Forum members said that you may need to reprogram your Climate Control Fans settings to accept the reduced air flow.
Good luck with your hunt.
