Question about XKR timing chain tensioner replacement

Hello,
I am totally new to Jaguars but considering buying a 2002 XKR.
I've seen that the timing chain tensioner replacement is probably a good idea.
After looking at the instructions on the forum for replacing on an XK8 it looks like something I could accomplish.
However, since this is an XKR , is this going to require the removal of the supercharger to do this?
I just saw a list of steps for that and it is a bit overwhelming. I don't want to tackle that if it is required.
Thanks.

I also saw this:
All models, 8 or R, engine serial starting with or after 010813xxxx (src: test point) meaning August 13, 2001 or newer have upgraded timing components.
What is the easiest way to tell if I have a newer engine that would not need the replacement?
I don't have the car yet, but I have the VIN and could find out from the seller (if I need the actual engine number). Where is this located?
Thanks

The engine number is stamped near the front of the block just to the left of center. You have to crawl on top of the engine with a flashlight. Chances are pretty good you have the newer ones, unless the car was built early in the second half of 01. The build date is inside the drivers door jamb.
