Default radio

Hi all;
98 triple black ragtop. I've had this car for more than 6 years, 89000 miles now. It's been pretty good. The only thing major and dealer done was the fuel pump replacement. I've replaced front bushes and joints myself. I went to polyflex. This summer I replaced the upper tensioners. I replaced the thermostat tower with aluminum. I"ve been lucky to not have any mystery electronic ailments. Being on a tight budget, those issues will kill you. Or, you just have to do without. The heat in the driver seat crapped. The power in the instrument cluster failed, turns out it's a blown capacitor. Try to find someone to fix it though. The dealer doesn.t touch clusters, says it's too old, and online instrument shops can only transfer odometer data to a replacement compatible used cluster, for a sizeable fee. I got said compatible cluster w/ matching revision#. It works, but on startup, the climate control sounds warning and displays temporary error. But, the really annoying item is, I've been without radio. I"ve got the premium system. No sound. Everything works but no sound. First, I replaced amp with another used unit, nothing. Just recently, I replaced the head unit. Ditto. So, it must be some kind of wire issue. either the main cable from the unit, or the cable to the amp. I imagine the dealer would be no help, and there's no british car repair specialists near me .Does anyone have an idea about the radio?

I assume the head unit appears to be on when you turn it on? If so, next stop: power to the amp. (Since all of the speakers are apparently not producing sound, the common source is the amp). On the other side, the common source is the head unit. Once power is checked, and considering you have replaced bth the amp and the head unit, check continuity on the wires by checking pairs, bridge one end with a small wire and check resistance between those two wires at the other end. There are six wires and a shield connection that go between the amp and head unit (Orange, Brown, Yellow, Green, Blue, Red) on connectors IC17 and IC18 at the amp end and IC14 at the radio/head unit end. You can either bridge at the amp and check at the head unit or vice versa. Wiring diagram below:
