Radio and antenna questions
I just took ownership of a 2001 xk8 and i know with the work I'm going to be doing on it that i will be disconnecting the battery. .Just looking for some information on the radio activation code. None of the papers I received (and they were FEW) with the car had any of that information. 1) Is it possible to retrieve this code from the radio that has yet to lose power VS having to get the serial number from the back of the radio and contacting the dealer? 2) How high should the antenna go up? Not sure mine is doing a full extension. Thanks for replies.

Johnny, good news. The security code was almost never used in cars for USA.
Ttytt I was even reluctant to type almost. It would be go buy a lottery ticket rare. This has come up many times on our site.
From what I've read, your jaguar dealer can look up a code if needed.
Antenna, pretty close to 34 inches. You'll find FM antennas tend to be about that long by design because that's about 1/4 wavelength. 90.1 on the fm dial has a wavelength of 129 inches (bet you were dying to know that :-)

Thanks for the response. I know my, be gentle, Honda CR-Z needed a code, so I figured I would ask the question.
The antenna I have is only going up about 12-18", I didn't measure it but seemed not enough. Perhaps I will give it a pull and see if it will extend full length. Worst that will happen is I need to replace it.
