Default Radio code trick needed

Hello,
I just had a battery replaced in my 2004 XK8 and I don't have the radio code to get the system back up and running. I read the trick with pressing Fastfwd/A.Mem/PTY simultaneously but the keypad in my car is different. It is like this: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...yle-radio.jpeg
Any suggestions on what to press with this keypad would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Tib.

I don't see it differently you have all those buttons, as far as I can tell from your picture. Amem, PT, and seek >>>

Welcome to the forums tib,

I've never been stuck without having the radio code available but have tried this trick in the past on two different European specification XK8's without success. Several others have reported the same and the easiest way is to ask a Jaguar Dealer to lookup the code.

I have disconnected my battery a few times with no need to reset the radio, except presets, sometimes. Is this a "European Thing"?

YES - radio theft was prevalent, particularly in the UK, and Jaguar fitted coded radios as a deterrent. Once they realised thieves simply took the vehicle instead they stopped this stupidity but the thing that really worked was fitting audio and telephone technology that's at least five years out of date - no self-respecting thief will touch it.

My previous 2005 S-Type 3.0 always required the radio code to be entered after the battery was disconnected. My wife's 2006 XK8 has never required the radio code to be entered after the battery has been disconnected....

Jon,

As I recall there's only been 5 members in the USA across the model forums reported having coded radios.

Good to know. Doubt anyone would try to steal my Jag radio, without including the accompanying car.
Had a similar problem at a community rental in Queens N.Y. Residents were getting radios stolen on regular basis from the lot behind our house. Finally one decided not to replace the radio, and posted sign on the window, "Don't waste you time here. No Radio!". As expected, the next morning, the car was gone. N.Y.'s finest responded with, "Why did you leave it where it could be stolen?" Parked in lighted lot, behind the house...... No further follow up from NYPD.

My 2003 XK8 has a coded radio. When I bought my car it had an aftermarket radio. I purchased a used Radio from a Salvage Yard. They furnished Vin of the Car it came out of. When I powered it up for the first time it asked for a code. I called Jaguar Customer Service and gave them the Vin of the Donor Car and they gave me the code. Every time I disconnect the Battery I have to enter the Code.

Thank you but unfortunately this is not working, that's why I've asked.
