Ultra rare for a USA car to have radio lockout as I've learned here.

Reread your question. Did you say battery recently replaced? If yes and no radio code needed there, this is closed, you don't need one mate.

Welcome to the forums Brtiii,

If the vehicle is fitted with a coded radio, the code is lost when the battery is disconnected. Although it is possible to maintain a supply (and 'learned' settings) with an external power source whilst changing a battery, this is unusual and the battery replacement without needing to enter a security code would suggest yours does NOT have a coded radio.

I was worried about this also as I prepared to replace the timing chains, guides and tensioners on my 2001 XK8, but after a week and a half with battery disconnected, the radio did work without having to enter a code. Job done, no problems.

I made the mistake of buying a radio code from Radio-Code.com for a US spec car and then found out I didn't need it. $%^*!. For $35 you can get a code based on the car S/N if you REALLY need it. But wait until after you reconnect the battery before you make the same mistake I did.
