Radio displays "PHONE" and nothing else

When I turned on my radio today (99 XK8) the radio display showed "PHONE" and nothing worked. I can't move it to AM or FM or CD or Cassette. The volume control registers but there is no sound. The only way I could remove the message was to pull the fuse. The radio panel stays on when the car is off and the key is removed unless I pull the fuse. I have taken the CD changer cartridge out and put it back in, checked all the CD to make sure they were correctly seated, and then tried it with the cartridge removed. Still no radio. The steering wheel controls don't work now either. The only other thing the display will do is change to "NO SERVICE" when I push the phone button, and then that won't go away until I pull the fuse.
Any ideas out there would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks

Bob, i don't know if this will fix your problem, but disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for5 minutes and reconnect. I have had some small electrical bugs fixed with a fresh reboot of all computer systems. The error seems more of a major problem though, but you can at least give it a shot. Worse thing to happen is you will have to reprogram your windows after your attempt.
