Rear 1/4 Window Regulator
#21
THANKS TO EVERYONE !
I was able to remove the unit from the top (lots of prying). Then, I pulled the assembly apart, re-strung the unit, and re-installed (lots of prying, contortions, and rubber hammering).
I noticed the extra, useless strip of metal on the bottom of the regulator to keep it from bending, was bent itself...nice. Obviously the bottom tail of the unit flexes and pulls the cable off the wheel.
I fixed this, but installing a stud in the regulator that rests against the inner-body, so when it tries to flex, it can not.
Not bad a fix. Just cost me a few hours of time and .50 at hardware store !

I just brought my car to the shop for this problem. There is a TSB (501-49) for my car that probably never got done, so the car is probably getting new regulators and both windows will finally get adjusted properly. Normally, I'd do this myself, but it sure seems like a long process and I don't have the time right now. If the window weren't stuck down, I'd wait for the spring.

I’m wondering the same thing!
I am at the same place except in replacing the entire window regulator. I have the new one but can’t find a way to get it out! So frustrating!!!
Hey,
Sure, it can't hurt; Thanks.
Yeah, I haven't seen too many posts about tearing into their car here (except for the top's hydraulic lines). Its just that I'm pretty sure I can repair this regulator by reinforcing the track...and save A LOT of money. It shouldn't be that difficult, but need to know how ~ once I get the unit re-assembled ~ how to get it back.
I can tear it apart and reassemble it within the panel, but its SUCH a pain to re-wire the cabling.
Like I said, I'm sure somewhere here has done it !
