Rear bumper change

Rear bumper change
I did a quick search and came up dry - does anyone have the rear bumper schematics?
Long story short I got rear ended by a guy in a rental car. Just came back from a trouble-free 2400km road trip yesterday too - gotta love the irony.
I won't do any work (unless insurance screws me) but I want to make sure it gets done right. I trust the local bodyshops about as far as I can comfortably spit out a rat so want to make sure they check the structural supports. The bumper is actually cracked so I know it has to be changed. Wondering what else to check.

Make sure they actually replace the bumper. They can push out the bumper supports(probably shocks) with a hydraulic clam shell, and there is stuff made especially to fill plastic bumpers, like yours. Your bumper looks like a perfect candidate, if there is no damage to the quarters, and you would never know the difference. Looking at the shot lines on the trunk lid, you have more damage than just a bumper though......take care.....Mike

I assume Canada has US spec energy absorbing bumpers with hydraulic struts and not the solid plastic ones we have on Europe? If so, this JEPC extract is probably the best diagram:

The biggest problem removing the bumper is usually the two Hexagon Bolts (item 5) which can seize.
The Beam (item 1 - a.f.a.i.k. this is aluminium on energy absorbing bumpers) could be damaged but you'll not know until the Bumper Cover (item 2) is removed.
From your photo, I think the Guide Block (item 8) is either displaced or broken. The LH reverse parking sensor has also taken a hit and could need replacing. As Mike suggested in post #2, the luggage compartment lid could be distorted or need re-adjustment.

Thanks guys - the image and analysis help!
I inspected underneath this morning and guide block is indeed split, the beam is bent in. The trunklid itself seems ok (the picture is at a bad angle) but I wont know till the new bumper goes on.
I expect the insurance co will tried to spray-paint the bumper and send it home. Want to have all the details sent to them beforehand.
