Default Rear end Sway

I have touched on this subject previously but yesterday's outing gave me a real shock! After hitting a bump in the road surface the rear end started to sway in an allarming way - so much, that I assumed a puncture in the rear tyre. Not so. The only thing I have found is a weak shock absorber on the nearside rear (much softer than the offside one). Could this cause the "sway" I describe or does anyone have different ideas - or indeed specific experience of this?

Members views are always welcome. I will, in due course have the shock absorbers replaced anyway.

Good day,

I am not positive if the rear shock will cause this but I just came from Germany where the speeds are allowed to be what the driver determines safe in certain sections... I was driving a good friends car that needed new front struts... It wasn't evident to me how bad until I got up to speed then crossed over the joint for a bridge... Steering at that point was more of a suggestion than a physical control... I would imagine the tires were off the road (bouncing) more than they were on the road... I purchased and replaced the struts on my buddy's car that day...

Good luck!!

Cheers!!

Have a look at your anti-sway bar links.
