Red Brake Calipers
#41
I have fitted some brake covers before, what I done was drill out one of the fake bolts, offered it up to the caliper and then drilled and tapped into that. The cover was fastened with a stainless cap head and looked like the original, that way you can remove them very easy for any maintenance work and no waiting around.

Well Ive read all the post about painting with the spray and with the brush and decided to go all the way in and have my brembos powder coated. I didnt want to paint these big things and be the least bit dissapointed. Total cost for my drilled rotors powder coated in matt black and for the calipers in red with a custom decal is $330 I have pics of the original setup in my pictures and will be getting the new ones back friday so I will post the new pics wish me luck.

Did your XKR come stock with the Brembo setup? If so, all the more impressive...and I'd be happy with your take-offs!

Here in the UK we have a paint called Hammerite it is designed for painting directly onto metal / clean rusty surfaces it is an enamel and comes in all colours with ether a hammer of smooth finish. It works V well on moderately high temp surfaces is very cheap and gives a good finish. I did my callipers in black and with care while they were fitted

I got the decals from the same place who powder coated the calipers I simpily showed him the original and he said he could make that exact same I think he charged me about 30 bucs but that was for 7 decals so incase I scuff one ...........not sure how I would do that but thats it. He could do it in any color and as you can see they all look great. If you were interested I could inquire with him about more.

I have a nice 2006 XJ-8 and would like to add the cast aluminum MGP caliper covers in red. You Tube has videos on these being fitted - very easily - on Mustang, BMW 3 series, etc., with a clever bolt and clip arrangement instead of the usual epoxy glue. But MGP only make a set of calipers for the S-type. Would these fit my XJ? If not, what will? Any help would be gladly received.
