Remote Control Convertible Top

Speaking for myself, I installed mine over ten years ago (9-2-13) and still love it. Steve's (Jagwrangler) instructions / support / and products are top notch.
I suggest that one first make sure that the top hoses and top latch cylinder have been upgraded. This is an opportune (if not mandatory) time to insure that all side glasses seal, operate, and are aligned properly.
The last time I checked, the current price is the same that I paid ($195) in spite of inflation.
I love to show it off at car meets, especially to kids. I still enjoy walking away from my car while raising the top remotely, and often say out loud, "thanks Steve".
Hope it works out for you. Enjoy.

I was mostly worried about taking the door panel apart. I went out and got some plastic bone tools and hopefully wont breade to many of the plastic clips. Now you got me thinking about upgrading the Latch and Hoses? I have no idea if its been done. I want to keep this car fun. Thanks for all the feedback! ..

One of the signs of inferior hoses is flaking of the exterior. Maybe someone will come along and post the part number of such hoses. If new hoses and/or the latch cylinder rebuild is warranted, there is much DIY instructions and sourcing on this forum.

For door panel removal, Steve (and I) recommend the Harbor Freight (Pittsburgh) Panel Clip Pliers or similar. I originally cracked my door card by pulling it with my fingertips. Since then, I always use the pliers and have cheat marks hidden under the door weather strip lip at each clip. I did repair one clip damaged by previous owner with plastic sheet bits and JB Weld.

So thinking about this again…..does the controller have to be located in the door? Can it be mounted somewhere in the engine compartment ?

While mounting the control in the engine compartment may be doable, I would question the effort required and also the toll that the engine heat may have on that controller.
