Default Remote convertible top! Wish me luck

Ordered my remote top kit from Whitexkr and plan to attempt this install this weekend. It's Labor Day, so I'm gonna labor! I'm good with adding led lights, some stereo install and that kind of stuff, but this looks a bit more complicated.
Hopefully RevSam video will give me a go to for practical step by step visuals.
Not a fan of having to fish wires to engine bay but no other way! Ugh

Just take your time and follow Steve's excellent instructions and it will be fine.

This sounds interesting - are they available in the UK?

I'll keep an eye out for emails and I will be there to support you guys.

I guarantee successful installation and that you will be delighted with this product.

After 2 years, the number of successful XK8/R installations numbers in the hundreds now.

Phil, given what you've already accomplished, you won't have any issues. And it's the best toy ever!

I purchased mine from Steve last year and fitted it over Xmas time. Only issue for me was being colour blind I had to keep calling down the girlfriend to help with connecting the right wires.

The quality of the kit is great and I've been loving using it this sunny summer in London.

Just in the process of replacing my rear window regulator but I'd be happy to show it working for you if you're ever in London.

Also Steve answered my questions pretty promptly too
Top chap and great product.

Now where's that front parking sensor Steve?

Phil....it will be a breeze if the other 199 install threads i've read are anything to go by!

You've just purchased probably the biggest single selling mod / upgraded for XK8 convertibles anywhere....lol

Its a nice feature to have and I'm sure will give you lots of pleasure once completed.....No doubt Steve will be around in the unlikely event you have any issues.

Good luck and looking forward to the pics / video of the completed install

WhiteXKR generously donated Remote Top Kits in our recent Free Prize Draws. At the time he assured me the installation was 'idiot proof'. Don't you go making a liar of him.

Seriously, after the work you've already successfully done on your vehicle, it'll be a breeze.

Default remote top

This is actually one of my favorite mods. Only issue is that it kind of works against using a top cover and I have two of those now. I found that once I replaced the top liner with the suede the liner didn't flap around much and I wasn't as motivated to use the cover except for shows. It is a real kick to walk away and have the car slowly button itself up or get ready for me as I walk up to it. Folks often stop to watch as well. Well worth the cost and effort (though I did pay someone to install it for me).

Thought about that as well but since i painted my liner, its now stiff enough too so i don't even use the cover either. I did just talk to Chris about the new small hard cover and think I'm covering it in the brown suede with black stitching to use on those days it's staying down.

Actually, I look at it a bit differently. I think it promotes the use of the top cover because when you enter the car the top is already down and you just need to put the cover on. When you leave the car, you remove the cover and then raise the top as you walk away without getting back to the car to raise the top.

Of course, that being said, handling the top cover does detract from the fluidness of just using the remote.

I completely agree with this statement. And it is the 2nd best mod, just behind your real gauge product.

+1 on it promoting use of the cover.
