remote (lock/unlock) for 2000 xkr for purchase? and broken lock
From reading the forums, it looks like jaguar made a significant change in 2001+, so those remotes are out.
My driver's side lock will lock the car, but is jammed unlocking it. It's been acting up for awhile and finally gave up. I'm trying to find a secondary remote for now as a back up to get into the car in case the primary remote goes out (since keys are now useless to unlock :/)
I've seen a bunch of used remotes on ebay, conditions unknown. Does anyone know of anyone making 'new' remotes for these cars? Or is it all luck of the draw on used ones from ebay?
oh, and how easy is it to get to the lock itself on the drivers side. ugh.

I, and many others on the forum, have sourced remotes from ebay without any problems. They usually turn up on ebay because owners don't hand them over when they sell their vehicle as the huge number of members arriving on the forum with only one or no remotes can testify.
One of the first questions I ask when viewing a prospective Jaguar purchase is does it have 2 remotes, 2 master keys and a valet key. If it doesn't then factor the high cost of replacement into the deal.
If you do go ahead and 'risk' and ebay buy, make sure the remote has the same code on the back of the case as your own e.g. LJB2610-BB. Also US operates on a different frequency to Europe.
There's a video in the FAQ's on door lock removal:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-videos-77768/
It's at number 4.
If the operating rods are OK on your door lock, then it's likely to be a failed microswitch. These are available separately from Jaguar (Part Number C2N1908) or from aftermarket sources.

I just bought one of these: JAGUAR 4 BUTTON KEY FOB REMOTE XK8 XJ8 X308 XJR XKR LJE2610BB NEW BATTERY FITTED | eBay
It arrived next day and was very easy to program to the car. I note you say the remote for pre-2001 may be different, but I would highly recommend the supplier.

Thank you guys. I read about the microswitch earlier and was reallllyyy hoping it wasn't that. not a cheap part, but then again I just replaced all 8 ignition coils and spark plugs.
I did get the jaguar for free, so I wasn't too worried about 1 remote, but I did get two keys (one black and one valet green).
