Default Replaced dead woofers in back and cleaned up phone install

I have the cassette audio adapter but didnt like wires all over place and nowhere to mount phone,,my cupholder assembly was totally shot so removed it and put a phone holder in its place,,tucked audio cable away as best I could,,bought the shortest usb power adapter I could find and bought a right angle usb cable, now I can close the ashtray lid with everything plugged in and looks a lot neater.
Back woofer were cooked so bought a couple raw woofer replacements from Parts Express,, (true 60w rms power handling@4ohms, better than any overpriced car audio stuff),same exact size and holes lined up perfectly,I know stock amp cant deliver a true 60w rms per channel if you hooked it to a dilithium rod. Sound plenty strong and deep now,,in fact I have to turn the bass down to balance or it overpower the rest of the system.
I also removed the fabric covering from the rear covers, cleaned and sanded the grille and sprayed it flat black, I guess from years of sun and dirt the fabric had become almost solid,,No sound could get thru that crud and I didnt feel like tracking down replacement fabric.
Installed a wind break and a top cover I bought used over last two weeks. Redyed the cover to spruce it up.
Almost 3 weeks now I have owned it,besides the stuff I posted above I also changed wheels and tires and installed a front mesh grille.

Looks great! Nice job.
hey before you toss the old speakers, just wanted to be sure you know you can get them re-foamed for cheap.

I've used Miller sound in Pennsylvania many times. Last time I did speakers like this they cost about $30.
OTOH maybe the new speakers sound so good it's not worth it.

Default Lovely stuff

Nice, and quality work too.

Nice to see how you cleverly used the space occupied by the useless coffee cup holder.

Would like a follow up on how different you feel , in cabin comfort, with the wind deflector.

+1 on feel with wind deflector. Wife is not crazy about 'Wind in the hair'. How difficult was the installation on the deflector. You had to cut into side panels? Any pix?
Nice work on all you did.

These guys have custom phone mount for all Jaguars. The are clip on and VERY stable. I've used them in XF, XE and XK8
Best phone mount ever!

Did you have to pull the side panels to remove the speaker grill, or did you do it all from the outside?

I pulled the covers from my woofers. The speakers seemed in good condition. Took the cloth cover off. It had glue on the grill. Trying to get the glue off to open up the grill. Not easy. 6 1/2 " woofers. Do not know if I should replace the good speakers or not.

remove panels,,took 5 minutes a side to remove. there is a write up on here if you search for it. I printed it out and used that as my guide.

Use "Goo Gone" or similiar adhesive removal product.,, mine were so sun baked most the adhesive just came off.
Rest I used Goo Gone, then light sanding, and then paint.

I finally finished cleaning the glue from the speaker covers. Ordered a set of new speakers to replace OEM units. When I pulled the speakers I found that someone must have already replaced mine, as they existing units were the same size(magnets) as new ones, and in excellent condition. Also there were 4 leads going to the speakers on my car, and the new speakers only have 2 leads /speaker.
No I have a nice new pair of 6 1/" speakers extra. Anyone need some speakers at 1/2 the price I paid for them???
