Default Replacement lug nuts?

My lug nuts are shot. Some have lost their cap, and in others, the cap is battered and beaten. I would like to buy lug nuts that are cap less. As I understand these are ½ thread. However, upon searching, I discovered that there are many types of lug nuts: Mags, ET, acorn, etc, and they apparently don't all work interchangeably.

Which type of lug nut is best for a set of Hydra wheels?

As I understand, the ones from Adamesh are the capped originals... I also can't seem to find them on their website.

They are OE.

We call them Wheel Nuts which is possibly why your search didn't find them.

I also didn't think to look in the brakes section of their website.

I think the Adamesh nuts are too expensive and flawed. As per Steve's information, I think these could fit in theory. These are Mag type ½ x 20. Thus, they have a barrel and a shank, which means they should be usable with the space saver spare. Could anyone confirm that these are the right size?

Adamesh also do solid nuts https://www.adamesh.co.uk/replacemen...els-1080-p.asp for some reason they are about half the price of the OE nuts.

"Upgrade or replace your damaged wheel nuts with these high quality solid head 1/2 inch flat seat nuts.
No more annoying stainless steel caps coming off when you least expect it (probably when you have a puncture!)
Supplied in a complete set of 20 wheel nuts or in a set of 16 wheel nuts and a set of high quality locking wheel nuts to prevent your wheels from theft.
Suitable for all XJS, XJ40, XJ6, XJ8, XJR models before 2004 & XK8/R models before 2006.

Not suitable for Jaguar Asteroids 18" wheels - see original Jaguar nuts"

The lug nut guys nuts look to have a longer shank.

NOTHING CONFIDENTIAL. Just sent a PM with a Vendor suggestion that is not a site advertiser. Under the impression that non advertising or non paying vendors ID were prohibited in site posting. The items are still "lug nuts" here. The original thread had as complete info as I could locate.

Replacement Lug Nut Quest
Recently we replaced the OEM nuts due to previous abuse by tire changers. After much research on Google and other sources we determined the following info regarding the XK8, X-100 & X-150 series cars: 1997 thru 2005 use 1/2 X 20 SAE nuts (Mag type and taper to allow use with steel spare). The later cars, 2006-2016 use 12 x1.5mm Mag type and taper). The type we bought came from E-Bay vendor @ $24 for qty. 20. They required a bit of modification: removed .050 in length and came with 60 degree taper. The Shank diameter is accurate but just a bit too long. The taper had to be added back to the nut once it was cut. These were 13/16 nuts" vs 7/8" for the factory tool. This was addressed by purchasing a 1/2" drive, 13/16" spark plug socket to add to the tool kit.
The later cars, 2006-2015 show the 12 x 1.5mm lug and nut, but we would suggest one verify the length prior to just bolting them on. There was a considerable difference in the price of OEM vs these replacements and worth the extra effort to modify. Time to modify the nuts was 4 minutes per nut or close to 1 1/2 Hr. Work done on Bench Lathe. We've checked the torque reading several times and they were all still secure. This is our findings, but we do not guarantee you will experience our success. Use this info at own peril. (Rough Disclaimer :-)

If this site gets so greedy as to prevent the sharing of good sources to protect paying advertisers then I will be done here. Have not seen any evidence of it so far. Hope that does not become policy.

Better that the paying advertisers can see what we are really buying and have the opportunity to address our needs competitively.

The mag type chrome ones have been tried and work ok. The important thing to ensure is that they have 1/2 inch shank. 3/4 shank is too long.
Read about it here

I have the adamesh solid ones now and they looked good when new but have lost their finish after nearly 50K miles and many wheel removals.

I think that I am going to try a set of these which should fit. Might need to get different washers since these are only 1 inch diameter.

Let's get the situation clear.

1. forum Sponsors and Vendors CAN advertise their products on the forum.
2. other commercial suppliers CANNOT advertise their products on the forum.
3. members CAN post names/details of recommended suppliers regardless of whether they are Vendors/Sponsors or not.

The reason is Vendors and Sponsors pay forum owner Internet Brands for the privilege of advertising and this helps keep the forum free to use for us. They are rightly upset if commercial suppliers do the same without paying.

No one objects to a member posting details of recommended suppliers, goods and services provided that member has no link to, or derives no benefit from, the recommended business.

If in doubt, ask a Moderator.

Searching around their website, I couldn't find any that have a half inch shank length. Rothwell's ebay link seems like the best bet in chrome for a reasonable size. However, they list the shank length as 0.55". Is that not 0.05 inches too long? I would like to not go through the trouble Steve went through and have to modify or remove anything from 0.05" from the nuts.

I checked Gorilla's website, it doesn't seem to be an online store at all, so I ended up in Bransport Auto's website where they do sell the Gorilla nuts, and the washer's separately. Weird, but sure, ok. That's $34.20 for the nuts, and $10.20 for the washers, totaling $44.40 before shipping.

At this point, I don't understand why they don't include the washers, and are they really necessary?
