Replacement Wheel Advice....

"Victory Edtion" Don't Forget this!
Remember, this is a "Victory Edition"! Whatever you do, don't change the Wheels.....Take the Atlas's to a Wheel Guy and have him strip the Chrome off the wheels and then Paint them Silver....You don't want to change the "Victory Edition" wheels that came on the XK8, as that's part of having a true "V-E".....If you change wheels from the Atlas's, you want to make sure you are using one of the several other wheels that Jaguar put on the "V-E's"... Protect the "V-E" motif as that is what you paid extra for!

^^ Sorry, but I disagree. It is my prerogative to change the wheels to whatever works best for us. I did not "pay extra" for the Victory Edition package when I made my offer for the car, and besides, it is all cosmetic anyway as Jaguar was emptying the parts bin as they phased out production of the XK8 model. Yes, the Victory Edition is rather rare, but this car will never become the prized specimen that the E-Type is today....

Hope you are having a better day! Sorry, but you were asking the Forum Members to give you advice about what to do with your Wheels........and I told you what my advice would be...I certainly will not do that again!

It's an update of the earlier You & Your Jaguar XK8 and covers production from 1997 XK8 to the last XK in 2014. This first edition now atttracts some extraordinary prices.
Your question is answered comprehensively on page 214.

Oh OK. Thanks for the tip. I didn't expect to find it in the How To's. I looked at the stickies titles and saw nothing titled "Styling guide" or similar and thought there wasn't any. As a matter of fact I was thinking about putting together a thread with pictures showing the styling progression of the X100. What changed each year on the exterior and interior as well as wheel options etc. Since I didn't see anything like that here I thought it would be useful. I even started collecting the photos already. Maybe I won't need to then.

Jaguar have removed their useful online guide to wheel options for XK8/XKR but a worthwhile purchase is Nigel Thorley's You & Your Jaguar XK/XKR which is still in print.

I have a few great books about some of my favorite cars which tell the whole story of the car, from prototype and development through all the generations and changes in the car. So this is the book then for the X100?

Jaguar XK8 - The Authorised Biography by Phillip Porter
Jaguar XK8 & XKR by John Blunsden
Jaguar XK8 - The Complete Story by Graham Robson
Jaguar XK8 & XKR - The Essential Buyer's Guide by Nigel Thorley
Al contribute to the story but Nigel Thorley's You & Your Jaguar XK/XKR benefits from having been updated after the end of production.

Any reason at all to go for the first edition? I'm only interested in the X100. Has any X100 info from the first edition been sacrificed in the 2nd edition to make space for the X150? Or is all there and more? Thanks again.

The 1st edition attracts a hefy premium as it's now considered collectible.

Is there also extra info on the X100 as compared to the 1st edition or all the extra info in the 2nd edition is X150 related?
I guess for X100 owners is nice to have the 1st edition with the X100 on the cover.

They are identical to Chapter 9 (128 pages). The 1st Edition then has 2 chapters (Modifications and miscellanea / People and cars) on XK8 totalling 16 pages which don't appear in the 2nd Edition).
To get back to Jon's original topic, they then both have lists of alloy wheel options with photos.

And yes, sorry, didn't mean to hijack. My original question was indeed about wheels.
