Replacing XK8 Headliner

Replacing XK8 Headliner
Recently had to have the headliner in my coupe replaced because it was sagging and the friction was enlarging my bald spot In the process of getting estimates, I learned the following that I thought some of you might benefit from:
1. One shop said that they would have to remove the windshield (OMG!) to replace the headliner. The good news is that I found another shop that was able to do the job without removing the windshield.
2. The OEM fabric for the XK8 coupe is not the same as that used in most cars. So if authenticity matters to you, make sure that the shop will be using the right stuff. (But it is expensive - $50/yard.)

replaced mine 18 months ago....going again !!!
Hi I replaced mine myself. got a new pre covered abs liner with genuine material attached via an upholstery company on ebay. Main issue is squeezing it in the passenger door aperture with seats and centre console causing most issues. When I do it again I will be removing those first!!. Anyway main point is the new one is sagging again already. I contacted the vendor who insists it must have been damaged on fitting, if I would like to remove it and return for inspection they might consider recovering it if its the glue at fault!!!!!
Where do I get another cardboard box that big and what's it going to cost to return, no I don't think so.
Considering two parallel cuts of headlining material one third across the roof front to back, re gluing with contact adhesive and applying a contrasting ribbon of material an inch or so wide to hide the seam. I am hoping this would relive the tension in the material enough to keep it stuck.
Anyone any other suggestions?
