Hey Brian,
Good for you! How did you determine that it definitely was the EGR gasket? Was it the missing bolt or something else?
Thanks,
Brian

Thelower bolt was missing and so was the gasket. Someone must have had it apart before I bought it and failed to put it back together right. It trully runs amazing now. How are you doing with yours? Tip measure manifold vacuum by putting a "t" inbetween the map sensor and the tube that goes to it. If its below 18" you have an intake leak, or a mechanical concern. If its good then it would be a sensor out of wack or low fuel pressure?logged or partially clogged injector. If any one has a generic scan tool, And can post the readings I can help you diagnose your concerns as well.

Good for you! Another cause found and I bet you feel great. Kudos to you!

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the generous offer of help, I may well take you up on that! Right now, my Jag is at my Indie Mechanic's Shop. Hopefully, the correct Fuel pressure Regulator arrived Friday and will be installed Monday. If that does NOT fix the 171,174 codes, I'll have my mechanic try your tip and attack it that way. He is convinced that it is not a vacuum leak as he has checked everything so carefully. Hopefully, the end is within sight!
Thanks,
Brian

PS My Launch Book OBDII Code Reader came in so I can read my own codes now.

Hi guys,
No joy yet! Finally got the right Fuel Pressure Regulator in and installed, but the same 171, 174 codes popped right back up.
My mechanic is going back to England for 2 weeks, and I don't trust leaving the car with him as the Florida JCNA Convention starts next Friday. He'll have to have another go at it when he returns. He has checked the gaskets/connections so many times that he is going to have his one other mechanic look at it with a fresh set of eyes. At least the car runs fine, and I can clear the codes with my Scanner.

Big day today, as I am going to change out the Driver's Side Seat Belt...........myself! It should be a fun project. I also had 2 new Michelins mounted yesterday, and I have an appointment to have my back bumper re-painted, as well as a recently acquired mysterious Rocker Panel Gouge/Ding repaired.
Brian
