Trying to change the timing mechanism (guides, chains, tensioners etc).
Followed the cam sprocket tightening procedure.
LHS chains are still tight and looks good after removing the cam lock.
However, when I release the cam lock from the RHS the cam exhaust (small sprocket) moves clockwise.
This seems to be because the cam is under pressure from the valve springs.
This causes both chains on the RHS to become loose on the drive side.
Retried to sequence several times with same result. Is this normal and nothing to worry about ?
Seems to be normal.
Refitted the crankshaft pulley, rotated the crankshaft 180 degrees and found the issue had move to opposite bank.
Must be the timing as the cams start to act on their springs.
Sprockets ok, tensioners ok, VVT units fully retarded.
Moved the crankshaft over 360 couple of time’s and everything aligned correctly each time.
Just the action of the valve springs on the exhaust cams pushing them round slightly when static.
