Rimguard Xtreme advice
Howdy Folks:
I am considering letting Rimguard Xtreme or similar service repaint my wheels (Double Fives) which have very minor curb rash and fading. I realize that some use spray bomb kits which I am considering to a much lesser degree.
Any comments, advice, or testimonials are appreciated.
Thanks

Rimguard Xtreme sounds like a useful accessory for a new inmate in a maximum security prison... Seriously, I refurbished my own wheels a few years ago on a BMW using little more than some sandpaper, aluminium filler and a rattle can. I am NOT a particularly accomplished DIYer, but I gave it a go and was surprised how easy it was (and how good the finished result looked).

I had an alloy wheel damaged on an Audi that I was able to have repaired. It came back looking better than new. So good in fact, that it made my other wheels look bad. I bought a spray can of silver paint recommended by the wheel repairer deciding how bad could I make it?
Turns out, it was not only easy, but the wheels looked great. The secret is in the prep work. Make sure the wheel is spotless clean and take the sheen off the old paint so the new coats stick. Sand smooth any curb rash.
You'll be surprised at the results. Besides, what have you got to lose?

wheels
After putting new wheels on my XKR hit a couple of curbs and the wheels, which were machined aluminum, couldn't be fixed ($450 each), they couldn't match the finish. After that had all of the Wheels powder coated black, now if I hit a curb it is a $200 problem. Of course I then stopped hitting curbs...

You are right. I guess I was just wanting a little nudging before doing it myself and hey, I did paint my Skylark Conv a few years ago.
Any suggestions as to which paint to use. Duplicolor silver is about the only wheel paint that I have come across.
Thanks to all
