well finally received my Whitley's but noticed a minor flaw on 3 out of 4 rims - it looks like they were gouged with a screw driver or some type of tool on the outer chrome ring - waiting on a response from customer service.
hi steve .sorry to see the rims you wanted came to you with some sort of damage . i am shure they will corect the problem . the car will look great when you get them on it .lots of luck dan in darlington sc .
Steve, not bad, get some sand paper, JD aluminum weld and a matching paint and they are as good as new. Mine had been through a grinder, or it looked like it. A little time will do wonders, the chrome being your major problem, but they have a paint for that too. Lots and lots of taping.

thanks guys - yeah it's not too bad and looks like it might have been done when they mounted the tires. I haven't installed them yet - will think about it overnight and see what customer service has to say.

So sorry to hear about the rim coming in damaged. DON'T try to repair them; it's the responsibility of the vendor to make good on the problem, not for you to prove you can fix them yourself.

Plums - no not them. I did send the pictures to the vendor's customer service with options - just waiting to see what they say

UPDATE:

well after a week of continuous emails from me and WAY TOO MANY minutes on hold trying to reach someone - damaged rims were returned - only to find out none available to replace until November!!!

Not what I wanted as availability of replacement rims was one of the questions unanswered during many attempts to contact someone. That's ok as I went from the hypersilver to chrome and arrival estimated to be 10 days

I ordered a set last month for my 05 XKR coupe. The delivery date was estimated as sometime in September.
If a set "suddenly" becomes available for me, I'll know what to look for...
Regards,
White Bear.

White Bear - where did you order from?

When I finally spoke to someone with customer service yesterday, I asked about getting the damaged ones back but the claim was filed against UPS even though the damage appears to have occurred when the tires were mounted. He said that they were UPS property now and he didn't know what would happen with them but most likely will not make it to the market place (unless ebay at some point).

Ordered my wheels through CarID.
Pity you can't retreave the damaged wheels, they were what I would call 20/20 wheels.
20 feet away at 20 mph they would have looked perfect!
Regards,
White Bear.

no doubt!!! Would have kept them for a discount but could never get a response from customer service until after UPS showed up to retrieve them.

That looks like a tire mounting issue, not a UPS damage claim But, this is "Monday morning quarter backing". I like my hyper silvers, as I have a bad taste for chrome wheels.
Very sad to learn of your issues. Especially when waiting for long periods. Hope it all works out.

Ken - thanks hope things work out too. I had a friend that works at a rim/tire shop look at the rims and the consensus belongs to the Monday morning QB's!

When I filed the claim, I kept asking about availability of hyper-silver replacements along with a willingness to keep the rims with a discount. But no replies. Chrome wasn't my first choice but they are available and not costing me any extra - so rather than wait another 3-4 months or look for a different rim, I took the deal.

sorry to hear of your woes. Hope you end up happy with the chromes.
Your pictures reminded me of an issue I had with a set of supposedly factory new 18" Hydra rims I bought last year. While they looked pristine in every (other) respect, two of the rims were not balanceable and needed to be trued, and one of them had this damage:
Fortunately, the gouge was on the inner rim edge, not on the wheel face.
I assumed it was a manufacturing flaw and had that redone too. After the repairs, the wheels balanced and mounted fine and have not given me any trouble with alignment, undue/uneven tire wear or otherwise.
FWIW. As far as I could determine, which admittedly is not very far, there was no evidence of prior tire mounting. Who knows.
Whenever you get something that's NOS (new old stock) be weary of damage. Sometimes that's why it wasn't used in the first place. Glad they hooked you up...That would bother me as well..Fortunately my new rims looks perfect..I do seem to have a vibration that comes and goes at about 90mph...Perhaps a balance issue...Nothings ever perfect eh

YEAH!!!! new rims/tires arrived - no issues so I know what I'll be doing this week!!!
