Default roof problems

I have a 2001 jag XKR. The roof has a hard time closing, everything works but sometimes I have to give it a helping hand. Fluid is full and no leaks. Someone told me that the fluid can get slushy so I should flush the system. Anybody out there agree or disagree, maybe had the same problem?

Welcome to the forum 98 shadow,

I've copied this question from your Intro. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

If the fluid is green it should not gel. The original yellow fluid did gel.

If the roof is traveling slowly I would first access the pump in the boot and make sure that the needle valve has not vibrated loose and allowing fluid to by pass. If the fluid is gelled it would make the pump work harder but not get to a point where you need to assist.
Once the pump pressure goes up as the roof is closing it would bypass more fluid around a partial open bleed valve and travel would slow down.
The valve is the one in the manual for Hand Operating the roof.
