Good evening all,
This is only my second post, though I read the forum every day. Much great info here. Now I need help with how to remove the roof control switch from the center console. The top goes down with the switch, but will not come up. Works fine using the key. I searched the archives and did not find anything related to that particular switch. Thanks for any help. By the way, I will be retiring in December and will be leaving California and heading back to the mountains of North Carolina, over looking the Blue Ridge Parkway!
Thanks,
Butch

You've got to get under your gear shift bezel and that wood trim piece. First step, take a stiff credit card, and imagine your bezel as a clock. At 2:00, 4:00, 8:00 and 10:00 use your card to push in, directly left and right into the bezel. There are little tabs that need to be pushed in towards the gearshift. One at a time, and slightly lift up. Be ready to unplug the cruise and/or sport button as you lift it up about 6". Second, you see these little metal bands that hold the wood veneer in place. Remove the two screws per side and the wood veneer should come up real easy. Roof switch is snugly in this piece. I'd take it up to the dealer, get a new switch, and let them pop out the old and new one out and back in. They'll do it for free if you buy the switch from the parts dept.
Otherwise, go at it yourself, try to see if the switch is bad...worse case you bust the switch, or worse yet...the wood.
