Rust on Wheel Hub

Rust on Wheel Hub
I own a 2001 XKR Coupe that I recently purchased. I have noticed that all wheels hubs are rusted. Can these be painted, and if so what color should they be? My original car color is platinum.
Has anyone else had this same problem and what did you do to restore the wheel hub to its original condition? Do the newer XK's have this same problem?

RE: Rust on Wheel Hub
I pulled the brake calipers and took off the rotors. A template was cut to cover the area swept by the caliper pistons. Follow Brutal's instruction and clean the surface well. I used a hi-temp aluminum [aluminized] paint. Dont forget to spray into the vents on the outer circumference of rotors.
The aluminum paint matches the color of my wheels. It has not discolored due to heat, and after six months stills looks good. I also took this time to mask off the brake calipers and spray them with the same paint. I removed the spring clips and pads when painting them. gordo

RE: Rust on Wheel Hub
I did the same, but i did my rotor hubs and vents with a high heat black after a good cleaning with brake cleaner. This pic was taken AFTER I reinstalled the wheel and then took it off again, thus the imprint from the rim. I taped off all of the rotor except a maybe a centimeter on the outer and inner edge for a little overlap. the pads will wear the surface and give you an exact edge that matches the pads' path. (gold area on the caliper is flash reflection)

RE: Rust on Wheel Hub
I also own a 2001 XKR although its a convertable. I have some curb rash on the rims that I would like to repair. There is a process on the detailing folder but I don't know wht color paint for the rim. Has anyone repaired their rims and repainted ot touched them up? If so, what color and brand paint did you use.
thanks

I recently changed my wheels from 20" Averus rims (preexisting when I bought it) to 18" Coventry Whitley rims. However...the rust on the wheel hubs is now apparent through the spokes. See enclosed picture. I understand that I can remove all four wheels, use a rust remover on the hubs and then paint them with some grey/silver high heat paint. Before I do that, I was wondering if there is a simpler solution - such as spray some modern miracle rust remover/preventer? Thanks!

My solution was to replace all rotors with Brembo versions that are powder coated in centers and vanes. Well worth it. Really high quality.
I installed the front ones about 4 years ago. Rears about 3 years ago. They still look good.
Pic from when I replaced the rear shocks about 2 years ago so rotors have about 1 year on them here.

A word of caution here. I also bought Brembo rotors in my case from Welsh Enterprises, and thought that they would have some kind of coating to prevent them from rusting in the "hub area". But no, they started to rust right away. Later I have bought new ones from another source and painted them with heat proof black paint from the start. Still looks good two years later
