Angry Safe Mode

Yesterday the 2000 XK8 went into safe mode with the engine missing badly. This was during acceleration from low speed. When I let off and accelerated slowly the engine ran smoothly. This happened twice during the day. But as long as I drove it like the old man I am no problem. I did a scan and got P0332. I looked that up and it said something about so electrical contact being bad. Come on guys I need your help.

How is the health of the battery. That is the first thing to look at.

P0332 KS sense circuit out of range (low voltage) B bank
Start engine; run > 5 seconds Y 2 1 [A, M]
When DTC is logged (first trip), ECM: – Sets ignition retard to maximum – Limits engine speed to 3000 rpm
Poor sensor contact with the cylinder block; KS to ECM sense circuit short circuit to ground; KS failure

Thanks for the info. I already had that from Bob. My question which I should have made more clear is what do I do about the KS and specifically where is the one for the left bank on the engine? Thanks for the input.

To replace the sensor, you will need a 13mm socket and an E8 Torx socket to remove the stud.

The KS is visible through the intake runners on either side. The stud must be removed because the KS will hit the intake before the top of the stud is cleared.

Fish the KS out the front and fish the new one back into position. Insert STUD and tighten. Install M8 nut and torque.

Plug in connector.

DONE
