It's a PITA, isn't it?
Sympathise, although you've done well for it to last so long.
I had mine re-covered by the local restoration company, together with the parcel shelf. Cost a kidney and a half but apparently they've had fitting issues with aftermarket parts ( I do trust what they say).
Some say they have managed without removing a seat. Some say they have managed without removing the centre console.
I took both out and still held my breath getting the shell out and, even more so, going back in.
Also... be very gentle with the B-pillar sliding seat belt anchor escutcheons.

Not trying to sound smug, or anything other than really fortunate, but the headliner in my 2002 XKR coupe is in perfect shape.
my question to the wise sages is, “ is there anything I can do, hoping to be proactive, to keep it looking perfect as long as possible ?.
Because it sounds like a real PITA once it falls.

PS: I’m in radiator hell , will start another topic on that …..

I guess you're just lucky.
The problem is that the fabric's foam backing decomposes over time then gravity takes over. It's not peculiar to Jaguar, either.
I've had the lining replaced twice - first time the glue must have been crap as it didn't last very long. It's not really difficult to R&R, just, as usual, the amount of ' stuff ' that you need to remove to clear the workspace.
Not sure there's much preventative you can do other than to keep the car out of direct sunlight as much as possible. That's not really practicable unless she's a 'garage queen', which I know yours definitely isn't.
Jaguar doesn't fit any soundproofing/insulation material to the roof panel which might have helped.

I'd get a replacement from these guys: https://www.myrtleltd.com/product-pa...adlining-board
It'll fold in half without breaking, making it easy to install.
