Scored nice 1999 XK8 Convertible FREE ! !
Lady had car on sale for 6 months, on ebay and Craigslist in Kentucky.
Car only has 107,00 miles! Paid $500 with plans to sell rims and rebuild engine.
She stated she moved the car to make room from her husband to park, then parked.Upon returning to the car later, it would not start, she kept trying and trying, till the battery died.
Towed to the dealership.
Dealership Diagnosis-LOW COMPRESSION ON MULTIPLE CYLINDERS
BROKEN/JUMPED TIMING CHAIN
NEW ENGINE RECOMMENCED $12,924.65
CUSTOMER DECLINED REPAIRS.SOLD CAR TO ME FOR $500
I TORE THE VALVE COVERS OFF(PITA ON CONVERTIBLES).
TIMING CHAINS OK, TENSIONERS THE OLD STYLE ORDERED THE NEW STYLE.
Brought the triangle on the flywheel to inspection hole, both cams flats are lined up to each other PERFECT, NO SLACK IN THE CHAINS AT ALL.
So I investigate further, added a lil oil in each cylinder, install coils and plugs, start car , ran LIKE NEW ! IDLES GREAT AND SMOOTH, NO TIMING CHAIN NOISE EITHER.
MY DIAGNOSIS-Customer moved the car for her husband to park in the driveway,it was a fast spur of the moment thing, cylinders got washed with fuel, causing oil to be off pistons , causing low compression and not start.
DEALERSHIP MISDIAGNOSIS-COMPRESSION NORMAL NOW
SCORE !
HER PICS NOT MINE, BUT THIS IS THE CAR

Congrats! But this is one of those situations where if it were me I would likely have a twinge of guilt and may have offered the seller a bit more once discovering the easy fix. But then again someone selling a vehicle like this should have done better homework and looked for a second opinion.

The cat is in way better hands as there were going to crush the car and junk it !
Fast food all over the floors, dirty interior, old clothing in trunk, dirty engine oil, but the famous classic bling bling rims on the outside lol, a classic.
You don't do a Jaguar like this!
Exterior immaculate.
I'm redoing the front leather seat skins with new skins, installing re-painted factory rims, shampooing carpet.
Its going to be around another 100,000+ miles again. Not one spec of rust, and the undercarriage is clean as the outside,no leaks anywhere.

Maybe it's because I am sort of **** but I am amazed seeing the way a lot of people keep their cars. I used to think it was the exception but I have seen so many cars where the interior looks like overflow space for someone's garage junk. I am even more surprised when I see a trashed interior in a real nice upscale car like the Jaguar. Sounds like the previous owners certainly did not deserve or value what they had.

Yes I was truly disgusted in what I seen. Not your average trashed car, I mean NEGLECTED FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME.
Even with low miles, the carpet must be shampooed and redyed cashmere, all the panels cleaned with hot water and shampoo, the rear seat cleaned with hot water and leather cleaner, the front seats need new wraps(leather skins$1,200, the interior top material needs redyed and cleaned on the inside and the outside needs a soft scrub and jaguar sealer.
I removed over 2 garbage bags full of trash and clothes, this alone will take me more time than the timing tensioners
