Default Seat belt removal / Headlining fit

Hi,
My first post.
I have a new headlining as my old one was sagging. I'm told I need to remove the front saet belt mountings to allow the rear quater panels to move to help fit the new hradlining. Does anyone know how to do this? I can see no visible bolts.
Has anyone done this job.
Thanks
Jeff

It's probably easier to point you to the workshop manual which will explain everything: http://www.mediafire.com/?eiqqf6heu5zz3#swp4061se0e19

JTIS is incredibly helpful when doing DIY work on these cars. Check out the sticky thread for more info how to download and install it.

I have attached the procedure for removing the rear quarter trim panel which shows some pictures about the seat belt. Given the question, I assume you have a coupe.

There is a nut (9) holding the upper seatbelt restrainer underneath the plastic cap (8), which just prises off. Also, the knob (7) operating the height adjustment lever needs to be removed. Beware the plastic bits 5 & 6 are seriously under-engineered and easily damaged.

Watch out for the connectors to the rear courtesy light and, if you have one, the microphone for the in-car phone.

You will need to remove the rear seat back and cushion. Some have managed (I didn't) without removing the passenger seat and centre console, but it is tight, and you need to be able to fully open the door.

I have this to do again in the next week or so, sigh. It's not a difficult job, there's just a lot to dismantle.

I recently did this job on my 2003 Coupé. I removed only the upper seat belt attachments which on my car were Torx-headed screws rather than nuts. I did not remove the interior trim panels completely, just tipped them inwards. I did remove the right front seat (LHD car), but not the console, The headliner panel came in and out through the right door opening with a bit of bending. Plastic everywhere is delicate. I repaired parts of the front interior lights support and the A-pillar occupant sensor using JB Weld.

Job done. Everything seems to work. Didn't need to remove the passenger seat. Think I was lucky.
