seat module

The usual diagnostics on the seat module is to swap the modules between the driver and passenger seats. A common problem is that the plastic case can rub the outer circuit board line until it fails. How to on fixing it is in the FAQ sticky above.
I bought one used from car-parts.com with full matching part number and VCAT extension that worked fine. With shipping less than $100. That was on the first car.
On the present car the passenger seat stopped working and when doing the swap test I discovered that both the part number AND the VCAT number did not match. But it did work at one time. I am not sure what that tells you but my guess is that the passenger seat module is only a relay board for the switch pack on the side of the seat and does not communicate on the CAN. The driver seat, because of the communications with the seat memory module might well need to match the VCATS number.
. . . . and welcome to the forum!
