Default Seats!

Just curious about the xkr seats. Did buyers have multiple options on the type of leather seat style? I have a 2002 XKR and the seats are pretty worn so I'm debating on re-dying them or finding somewhere to purchase new leather skins but I hardly see any perforated seats (leather with the little dot cut outs).

Does anybody have experience with either option? Any advice would be helpful!

I've moved your question from Off Topic section to the XK8/XKR section.

There's a lot of knowledge here on seat types and refurbishing options for your model so you should get plenty of good advice.

Jag Vroom,
I also have 2002 XKR, and just replaced driver's seat cushion a couple of weeks ago. Topsonline aka Vic's Upholstery supply in Panorama City (Los Angeles) sells replacements with the perforations as well as the same stitch patterns. The replacments are not exactly the same leather as original equipment but if you are replacing both seats so that they match, you'll be satisfied.

Thanks for the information. Since the seats are not torn does it make more sense to redye rather than replace? The cushions are in good shape for the age. I am interested in getting opinions here because I don't want to spend the money to redye (about 700) if I end up replacing anyway due to he outcome.

Any thoughts?

Check this thread on restoring leather seats as a DIY project:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...esolved-80080/

It's X300 but the principles are the same.

Here's another refurb by a professional:

I thought more may have responded about the XKR seat options as the topic has been raised recently.

The choice is between 'Standard' or 'Recaro' designs. This is the Recaro seat:

After that the leather can be plain or perforated. An alternative is 'Soft Leather with contrasting double stitching'.

An option in 2003 and standard on the Final Series in 2005.

Thanks for the feedback everybody.
Just got my car back and the leather dye came out amazing. I am thrilled with the outcome. Who knew "bondo" for leather existed!!
