security lock module

First disconnect the battery.
Then remove the bolts that fix the fusebox assembly to the floor and side of the trunk. There are 2 or 3 cable harness retainers that also need to be pulled free.
Lift up and partially flip over the fusebox. The SLM is simply fixed to the bottom of the fusebox assembly with some plastic tabs and snaps out.

I have got the SLM at work and just opened it up and it appears to be perfect with no corrosion/dry joint etc. If every thing ese connected with the SLM works, ie. locks with the key, alarm sets ok,windows and hood ok, could it be the remotes have somehow got out of 'sink' with the car?

Keith,
If the SLM was at fault, I'd expect one or more of the functions it controls to fail but this isn't the case. You've also eliminated the aerial and verified the remotes can successfully pair with another XKR.
I've come across a Restraint Module getting out of sync and having to be reconfigured on the dealer diagnostics system so it's not impossible that any of the programmed modules can do the same.
As the module doesn't have physical damage it would seem a replacement could be unnecessary but reprogramming is looking more likely as the solution.

I have personally seen one SLM have a reciever fail, and heard of at least one other...so I know for a fact it does happen.
I would suggest trying to find a used one though if you are not in a big hurry. If you can match the part number and VCATs code (see label in the boot under sidewall carpet beside spare tire well) it will be plug and play with no dealer programming needed. Used ones are rather inexpensive.

post up your VCATS, or look on EBAY in the US and link the item you need; perhaps we can help you get a good deal over here and ship it over to you. I presume the US-Euro barrier on these modules shouldn't be an issue, and needs only reprogrammed to euro requirements once installed?
the number is LJE 2600 BC don't worry about the other numbers as I can get it programmed to my car. I understand though it must come from a convertible.
I don't know if US ones can be programmed for a UK car

I've also read it must come from a Convertible or your roof pump will run continuously.
Here's TSB 418-03 on module compatability:
418-03 Control Modules - Compatibility.pdf
The market is programmed at build stage which suggests a US module can be reprogrammed for a UK vehicle.

simkins, do you have a budget? (US dollars please ) There are a couple available here at EAG, and I could ship it to you. Send me a PM, we can work out the details. I read on the UK forum that a BB worked in the place of a BC. Maybe an AB can be 'programmed' to be as new as your BC.
I've had some help getting parts from your side of the planet, just trying to pay it forward.
