Default Shock suggestions anyone?

I just ordered some front shockmounts for the 98 XK8. I'm going to replace the shocks as well. Anyone have any thoughts on what to get? The bilsteins look nice and cheap, but are they decent?

I thought Bilsteins were fitted by Jaguar.

We just had a discussion about using bilstein off-branded (same shock) in the thread about replacing one...$90 a piece IIRC.

Go here for a look.

I just replaced the front shocks on my Rolls Royce with Bilsteins and they are preforming as good if not better than the OEM ones.

Jaguar uses Bilstein as OEM, just painted green.

Here's the part numer for the fronts: BE5-6726-H0
$97.50 Each on eshocks.com, I did mine a couple of years ago. And They're Fine ride quality did not change at all

Something to think about. My 88 Corvette uses Bilstein shocks. For some reason the front shocks for a Z51 Sport Suspension are getting very hard to find.

I contacted Bilstein in San Poway California and was told (a couple of years ago) they would service the old shocks for $60 each and make them like new.

If/When I have to replace the Bilsteins on my XK8 I'm going to send the old shocks back to Bilstein and have them serviced.

Partsgeek.com has the HD Bilsteins the front uses for 88 buck a piece each.

The aftermarket Bilsteins are the same part number as OEM replacements. And yes, there is a Bilstein facility in California that will rebuild their shocks. Here is the link: http://www.bilsteinus.com/services.php

Hey BRGJAG,

I've ordered from parts geek before and when the boxes show up they say autopartswharehouse. I found alot of those sites that show the lowest price but they hit you for shipping. Autoparts has them for $92.76 with free shipping.

Eshocks isn't as cheap as they used to be but Bilsteins are definately the way to go.
