Hi Billy,
I would never use the point down function. I am looking for the fold in function you operate by placing the R L selector switch into the middle and pulling the toggle button back toward you. As mentioned above someone said the fold in feature is on all xk8 but the lowest grade with cloth seats. I am merely trying to determine if I have the feature because when I follow the instructions nothing happens. If I have it and they are not functioning, I'll try to fix them. If not, it's a moot point. Thanks

Can you manually fold and auto fold mirror - I assumed not.
I said I'd distract the grandkids and have a fiddle and yes the passenger (left on UK) mirror folds in, the driver's side does not but reading around it seems I might need to mess about manually a bit to restore this functionality. My car is not basic spec. and if yours is not base then you might expect it to have fold in.

The point down for parking doesn't seem to work - yet.

If so, the way it works is: Push the selector to the Right -side then Pull the Right-Hand adjustment stick back and the Mirror drops down so you can see what is on the Right hand side of the Car.....Is this what you are trying to do?

It is just to easy Mark!

Do you have memory seats with the buttons by the door handles? Again this was standard on XKRs but an option on XK8. I believe the passenger mirror drop on reverse only came with that memory pack option.

Yes I have 2 memory seats buttons that do work. I have premium sound if that means anything, I have 3 buttons to program homelink for wireless device operation.
thank you

I think it's cloth seats and also you have answered your own question as you have memory buttons which must surely move you away from base.

Have you hunted the relevant fuse down yet?

Edit: Do your memory seats work OK?
