A small irritation, trunk courtesy lights

Terrys Jags has them for $61 btw...
The switch itself is made by Cherry and I have all the numbers of a bad one. If I can find a source they will be lots cheaper yet.
The crazy thing is you can buy the entire latch minus the switch for just $46.

Trunk light diode & micro-switch
Post #11 gives details on both suspect parts and possible sources - CHEAP TOO.

That is for used switches. I am hunting down a source for just the micro-switch itself without the plastic case or wire harness etc. Should be very cheap for a new one.
The LNC6242AB part is no longer available from Jaguar and has been superseded by LNC6242AC so the used ones could be either one but both will work.

4 more years...
Wow! I am the originator of this post and I can't believe it's been 4 years already! I'm here to report my lights still work as strangely as ever.
Just the other evening I was fumbling around in the dark trunk thinking that I should do something about those damn lights. If I've been living with it for 4 years I can go another 4 or so I guess...

Trunk light wasn't coming on in cold weather, and came on reluctantly after several moments in warm weather. So removed the microswitch (pop out trunk panel cover at the latch [release four "fir tree" clips on top and two screw rivets either side, the two plastic flaps that say "pull", and remove trunk floor carpet and battery cover]).
Microswitch can be accessed near the trunk latch from the backside. Unplugged it, follow cable and unplug from harness. Gently opened microswitch case using small screwdriver Fiddled around with the red microswitch which didn't slide easily at first, almost stuck, but after a bit of worrying it, it started to slide easily. Snapped thecase back together and reinstalled. Trunk courtesy lights working beautifully now.
Attaching picture of the exposed red microswitch:
