Smokin`!

Smokin`!
I drive my 03 XKR with 41000 miles at least once a week, but not daily. I have noted that on some startups I get a good cloud of white smoke when I start the car. Once running and out the driveway I don`t see any smoking while idling, driving or accelerating. I don`t have any unusual oil consumption either. Anyone have similar experience or comments? My friend says I should add some LucasOil additive but I`m not convinced I want to do that. What do you all think?

White smoke usually means coolant, which indicates a bad gasket or cracked block. But with no other symptoms, that seems unlikely. Is it WHITE white, or maybe a little bluish white. Because bluish white smoke could be leaky seals on your valves or a bad PCV valve. Of course, I don't think your car has a PCV valve, so it's probably not that.
The next time it happens go sniff the smoke. If it smells sickly sweet it's coolant, if it smells like burnt oil it's oil. That will help you narrow down the possibilities.
