Default Solar Battery Charger

Winter is around the corner and I do not have a garage and wanted to keep my car batteries fully charged now that the cars are not used every day. After much searching I found this Solar Panel at Harbor Freight 1.5 Watt Solar Battery Charger The price was right and the specifications 1.5watts seemed just what I needed. This is how I installed it in my cars Solar Battery Charger

Unless it's dark then you have sunlight & sunlight = solar power

I sticked one permanently at the back seat of the convertible and hooked it to the battery. Great thing. Never have battery problems anymore.

Ron: did you have to get a “controller” or something like it to keep the battery from overcharging? If so, have you got a brand suggestion? I’m looking to do the same for my ‘03 XJ VDP which isn’t driven as often as it should be. I don’t have a garage and am leery of running a power cord across the common sidewalk to a charger to guard against a liability issue.

Thanks in advance.

Eliot, The power delivery is enough to keep the battery into shape. It is a trickle charger that doesn't need to be unplugged when you go for a drive. The amount of current is keeping the battery healty and the alarm is working. It automatically stops when the battery is full so overcharging is no issue. I got mine from Westfalia. https://www.westfalia.eu/nl/shops/au...ne-energie.htm
