sounder alarm going off - randomly. sussed it !!
hi there i did write to you guy,s about 3wks ago to say that my alarm was going off randomly on my 1999 XKR coupe & it got so bad i had to leave the bonnet open when i left the vehicle even when i went out !!!
anyroad i've sussed the problem.
thanks to all the guy's that responded to my problem, but all the answer's didn't help the situation.
the problem turned out to be with the glassbreakage alarm inside the car !!
this problem has been sorted by the use of some BLUETACK !!!
the bluetack needs to be 2 THICKNESSES thick to be effective - i did try with 1 piece but no good .
so to finish the job off i have placed a 5pence piece with the old Queen's head looking over the car ! ( just stuck it on the bluetack, much improved ! )
so there we are guy's all fixed so to speak.
the cars got a NEW battery now ( which made no difference to the problem in hand ) & a used new rear boot latch (also made no difference) the bonnet switch was ok.
the next thing is to reconnect the sounder under the wheel arch which i disconnected at the start of the fiasco months ago , to see if that is actually faulty or whether it was the glass breakage alarm all along.
anyroad that's all for now just gonner let the dust settle on the situation for now.
cheer's now
