Default Source for thermostats at a reasonable cost?

Hello guys;

I've been looking at sources for thermostats, 1997 XK8 Coupe. I've done a few searches on the forum but haven't found any clear answers.

Jag part number: AJ86484

Best dealer price I can get is about $ 48.

Rock Auto has a Gates equivalent at $ 16, but shows that it must ship from England for an additional $ 41 shipping charge!

NAPA doesn't have anything that cross-references to the above part number.

Where are you guys getting your thermostats, and what are you paying?

Thanks for the help.

Go ask for a 2000 Lincoln LS V8 thermostat at your local NAPA/Advance/O'Rilley/Pep Boys/etc. I paid $23 at Advance. Try RockAuto for the Lincoln, the low price leader in on-line parts or use the Advance AP code 'P20' to get 20% off and no shipping if you pick up at your local store. Others will have deals also.

Let's see who can come up with the low price source.

Purchased the tower, hoses top/bottom and thermostat from Coventry West for $200 and change. Thermostat was around $41.00. Had to call them due to the web site keep showing different prices for the hoses. Received the items in 3 days. Ordered on Friday and had them on a Monday. Just remember as GGG has posted several times that the pin is facing up or you will have a difficult time bleeding the air out of the system. Jim

Went through this just a few weeks ago. Memory a little fuzzy now on how I got this part number ... cross-reference to the Lincoln part number, I think ... but anyway ...

Napa Part # = 388-183

About $15.00, off the shelf at local Napa store. It is made by Stant, exactly like the one I bought about five years ago, from some other source for about three times the price.

Fantastic. That's exactly what I was looking for. It's $ 12.66 and in stock at the NAPA just down the street. Thanks very much.
