Special XK8 Bearing Tool Available
Unfortunately, i just had to replace the hub and bearing the left front wheel of my '98 XK8. Fortunately, I had picked up a brand new ABS Abductor Nut removal tool for practically nothing, at a garage sale a few months back on a whim.
Well, I think I'd like to share my good fortune...if one of you forum members need to borrow this tool for a day or two, I'd be glad to loan it to you for the cost of postage and the promise of an immediate return of the tool when your finished.
As a point of information, getting that ABS nut off is almost impossible without this tool (the tool can cost as much as $135.(Welsh)}. This tool saves a lot of time=$$$.

This is a great offer and a demonstrates the great support available on this forum.
I bought this tool and it is required to properly re-install the wheel bearings.
If it was my tool, I would only loan it south of the Mason-Dixon line if used for nut removal. It doesn't take much rust to permanently fuse the nut to the hub.
I would recommend anyone try 250lb feet on the nut and if it doesn't budge, cut it off with a radiac wheel and buy two new ones.
I got lucky with my car being rust free, but even then, damn it took a lot of torque to remove. When the nut started to move it felt like it was one of my greatest accomplishments in motorsports.
If anyone in DFW wants to borrow mine (my 16 year old son calls it the "Schlonging Tool"), a six pack of cheap beer is all that is required for rental - PBR or equivalent.

Free beats $1 ... however for anyone looking, it is available on
the UK version of ebay for about half of what a US seller will
charge. Look for the Laser brand tool with 3/4" drive. It also
comes in 1/2" drive, but might as well get the 3/4" drive
based on the forces required.
It is the usual black impact socket steel.
Takes a couple of weeks, so I ordered one and it's sitting
in the top drawer as reserve.

I second guessed my decision for a week.

As a matter of fact my tool is the Laser brand.
My offer is based on the fact that an individual owner probably (or hopefully) will never have use it more than once in the life of his/her car. One of the great potential benefits of a great forum like this one is to be able to share expensive but lightly used special tools.
