Steering Wheel replacement/Reconditioning
I am currently looking at replacing, reconditioning my '06 steering wheel. I checked eBay, and most wheels are listed for '97-'03 XK's. Will these fit/work with an '06?
Has anyone had their wheel reconditioned in the US? I have seen reconditioned wheels for and F-Type, usually around $500. More than I want to invest in my XK.

Like you, my steering wheel is also looking sad and needs replacing or re-upholstering. I too looked at the wheels in ebay and none satisfied me. They either had small defects in the wood, small defects in the leather, or were the wrong color. I also want to upgrade to perforated leather.
I actually found an upholstery shop that is willing to recondition my steering wheel for $150 using perforated black pleather if I pull it myself. They would charge more for real leather and they also increase the labor charge if they have to remove the steering wheel themselves. I may be going this route in the coming months.

I recently installed a Wheelskins leather wrap on my '97. I've used these also on my other vehicles, and the quality is excellent. I wanted the wood portion to be covered due to the high heat here in Vegas, so the full wrap was not an issue for me ( plus it will help to preserve the wood). I used the Euro model ( two tone) .

Hi,
If it is the leather only on the steering wheel that needs re-conditioning, then I highly recommend leatherique, I've done this on three XK8's with satisfying results.

Also had nice results with seats, when I was convinced they would have needed new leather. Nice pandemic project.
