Steering wheel tilt is there a reset procedure? 2001 XKR
Ok I has the tilt motor out (up/down) for a clean/grease/bend the spring washer and clean the potentiometer.
Now I may have turned the motor while it was out. So when I re-installed I set the steering wheel to the up and in position note if I adjust it fully up it didnt go in so I adjusted up as far as it would go and still move in. With the knob set to manual. Then I disconnected the motor from the steering (two allen bolts) and used the adjuster knob to turn the motor to fully up (about another 1/2 turn) then I manually by hand adjusted the steering wheel in the opposite direct (so it came down ever so slightly) then re-installed the motor and put everything back together.
Now the problem I have is manually it goes up/down in/out fine. But on auto it never returns to the in position i.e. it goes up but not in. Well it did the first time but not after that. Its like its forgotten the home position.
If there a procedure for initial setup that works?
Thanks in advance
Simon
